Dustin Johnson to defend his title at 2018 Genesis Open
World No. 1 and 2017 tournament champion Dustin Johnson is set to defend his title when the world’s best professional golfers on the PGA TOUR return to The Riviera Country Club February 12-18 for the 2018 Genesis Open. Johnson cruised to victory at the 2017 Genesis Open, winning by five strokes and ascending to the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking, a status he still holds.
“I can’t wait to defend my Genesis Open title at Riviera in February,” Johnson said. “Riviera has always been one of my favorite courses, and playing as a past champion will make it even more special.”
With his win at the 2017 Genesis Open, Johnson started a streak of consecutive victories that lasted for more than a month. Johnson won three consecutive starts – the Genesis Open, the WGC Mexico Championship and the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play. The winning would continue for Johnson during the 2016-17 PGA TOUR season as he defeated Jordan Spieth in a playoff to capture the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs.
